We are wild about Page Turner Adventures and we are excited to partner with them for Summer Experience 2021! Page Turner Adventures is bringing you eight weeks of virtual content, five days a week, so there's something "pawsome" happening every day this summer! Get ready to participate virtually in animal-themed comedy shows & field trips, create crafts, meet authors, mix up recipes, & more!

How It Works

Page Turner Animal Adventures virtual event runs for 8 weeks (5/31 - 7/30), 5 days a week (Mon - Fri). Every day there's something new to enjoy!

Videos become available on their scheduled date at 11 AM & are available for viewing any time after the 11 AM premiere throughout the entire summer.

Myrtle Over the Moon
In this original Moooosical Adventure, a “boring bovine” seeks love and fame on MooTube by attempting to jump over the moon using a trampoline, roller skates, and a jetpack. She fails, but finally realizes the appreciation she craves was there all along. A cast of talented kids join Kenny and Page Turner in a fun tale of farmyard friendship.

Tammi Sauer
Tammi Sauer has written 30 picture books with more on the way! In this Author Spotlight, Tammi will tell us about two of her fun farm-themed books, The Farm That Mac Built and her latest book, Not Now, Cow.

Clucking Chicken Cups Craft
Time for another egg-cellent craft. Today we’re making chickens out of cups that actually cluck!

Kamal Bell had a farm…ee i ee i oh! Kamal will take us on a virtual tour of Sankofa farms, including their working beehives!

The Ocean's Got Talent
We’ve searched the seven seas for some of the ocean’s most talented creatures. Octopus will perform an amazing escape, Mantis Shrimp will prove he’s not just a pretty face, and Angler Fish has an act you’ll definitely want to catch. With all this talent, will Sea Slug be able to shine? Puppetry and live action make this show a watery wonder.

"Printed" Ocean Scenes
With some recycled styrofoam and water based markers, you can “print” your own beautiful ocean scene.

Kate Messner
Kate Messner is passionately curious and writes books that encourage kids to wonder, too. Her many titles include Chirp, and the popular Ranger in Time chapter books about a time-traveling dog. In this video, Kate talks to Page Turner about the creatures who live Over and Under the Pond AND Over and Under the Rainforest!

Coffee Filter Fish Craft
With some water based markers and a little H2O, coffee filters are transformed into colorful sea creatures.

Yasu Ishida, Magic Story Artist
Yasu is an award-winning performer who combines traditional Japanese theatre, music, origami, magic, and storytelling into one-of-a-kind performances. Yasu amaze you with stories, then show you how to make your very own origami water creatures!

Such a Library!
Kenny’s many pets keep interrupting his Zoom call and he is frustrated! So Page Turner tells him the folktale, It Could Always be Worse. Then she gives it a modern-day twist by transporting the tale (and the audience) to a library filled with animals, a magical book, a wacky librarian named, Miss Understood.
Based on the book Such a Library! by Jill Ross Nadler (aka Page Turner).

Pet Pop Up Books
With an old file folder and a pair of scissors, kids can create their own magical Pet PopUp Book just like Miss Understood’s!

Donna Gephart & Francesca Chessa
Author Donna Gephart and illustrator Francesca Chessa who will talk about their picture book Go Be Wonderful!, which features a spunky girl named Daisy and her pet dog, Mr. Bonkers. We’ll also get a sneak peek at Donna’s new novel for older readers, Abby Tried & True. And we’ll have a bonus video from Francesca Chessa that shows kids how to draw their own pet pictures.
THURSDAY, 6/17 - MASH-UP DAY
Pet Pal Open Face Sandwiches
This delicious treat is part art project and part recipe, and all you need is a slice of bread and any fixins’ you can find around the house.
FRIDAY, 6/18 - GUEST DAY
Jamie Katz, Pet Detective
Yup, pet detectives are really a thing, and Jamie Katz (her REAL name!) is one of the best as Kenny and Page found out first hand when Jamie helped them find their lost cat, Philo. Jamie will introduce us to her sniffer dogs, Gable and Fletcher and show us how they help her find lost pets.
WEEK 4: CELEBRITY CRITTERS (JUNE 21-25)
Lights, Camera, Action! This week is devoted to animals of the silver screen, zoo-per stars, & four-legged heroes.

Using construction paper, paint, and craft foam, we’ll create celebrity paw prints worthy of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Pat Cummings
Super-Star author and illustrator, Pat is the recipient of the Coretta Scott King and the Boston Globe-Horn Book awards. She’ll share her latest book Where Is Mommy, as well as Ananse and the Lizard.

Read Aloud & Draw Along
Pat Cummings is back! She’ll Read-Aloud from her book, Harvey Moon, Museum Boy. Then illustrator Francesca Chessa will teach you how to draw some of the animals from her book, Go Be Wonderful!

Wesley Williams, Puppy Pals Comedy Show
Wesley has been on America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent, now he joins our Animal Adventures with an excerpt from his hilarious Puppy Pals show, featuring cute canines creating controlled chaos!

The Sofa Safari Game Show
What animal eats upside down? Can you pronk like a springbok? What animals never fart? These questions and more will be answered during Sofa Safari, the interactive game show that takes you on a safari without leaving your sofa!

Jungle Safari Flashlight
A zip lock bag, black and white construction paper, and permanent markers are all that’s needed to make this project that’s part craft and part optical illusion.
WEDNESDAY, 6/30 - ILLUSTRATOR DAY
David DePasquale
Illustrator David DePasquale will share his debut picture book A Wisdom of Wombats about the wonderful words we use to describe groups of animals. David is also the lead character designer on Arlo the Alligator Boy, a new Netflix movie available now! Grab a pencil and paper because David will teach you how to draw Arlo!

Jim Hammond, The Lion King Puppet Master
Get ready for a roaring good time when Jim shares some backstage secrets, and teaches us the five steps to becoming a fantastic puppeteer. This day includes a bonus video that will teach you how to make your own “peeper puppets” just like Jim’s.
FRIDAY, 7/2 - GUEST DAY
Teachers of Nature, Superhero Animals
Every animal needs a superpower to survive. Cheetahs have speed, chameleons have camouflage and birds have flight. Meet real live animal superheroes in this “wild” program.
WEEK 6: CREEPY CRAWLIES (JULY 5-9)
It's a bug's life! This week is dedicated to critters that creep, crawl, & fly as we investigate insects, arachnids, & even a butterfly or two.

Candace Fleming is the acclaimed author of more than forty books for children and young adults, including this year’s Sibert Medal Award Winning Book Honeybee: The Busy Life of Apis Mellifera. We’ll also chat about her book Cubs in the Tub.

Bobby Norfolk, Storyteller
An internationally known storyteller, performer and teaching artist, Bobby Norfolk is a three-time Emmy Award winner, multiple Parents’ Choice Gold and Silver Award winner, and a National Storytelling Network Oracle Award recipient. Bobby will thrill us with tales of that famous trickster, Ananse.
WEEK 7: FANTASTIC BEASTS (JULY 12-16)
Mermaids, unicorns, alien slugs, & other creatures that MAY or MAY NOT exist will be the focus during this magical week.

The Book from Outer Space
Last year, we did a live-action version of this show. This year it’s an ANIMATED ADVENTURE! When the Intergalactic Library is accidentally unplugged, the kids at home must join Kenny and Page on a virtual adventure to find an alien space slug to save the day.

Paper Plate Dinosaurs
Who doesn’t love dinosaurs? With a paper plate, paint and a toilet paper tube, kids will bring these beauties back from extinction.
WEDNESDAY, 7/14 - ILLUSTRATOR DAY
Raissa Figueroa
Artist Raissa Figueroa, brings Kelly diPuccio’s story about a curious mermaid to life with gorgeous underwater illustrations. We’ll also talk about her illustrations for We Wait for the Sun, written by Katie McCabe and Dovey Johnson Roundtree.

Unicorn Horns Recipe

Dustin Growick, Dinosaur Whisperer
This week is DINO-mite with a special guest and author visit rolled into one. Dustin is the creator and host of Atlas Obscura’s Dinosaur 101 and the Dinosaur Show on Youtube. He’s also the author of Dinosaur A-Z and Utterly Amazing Dinosaur.
WEEK 8: SWAMP STORIES (JULY 19-23)
Get ready to trudge through the sludge as we spend our final week exploring citizens of the swamp, from mud-dwelling dinosaurs to occupants of the Everglades.

Christina Soontornvat’s many works for children include picture books and the Diary of an Ice Princess chapter book series. Her middle grade fantasy novel, A Wish in the Dark, and All Thirteen: The Incredible Cave Rescue of the Thai Boys’ Soccer Team were both named 2021 Newbery Honor Books.

Roger Day, Marsh Mud Madness
Grab your boots and join four-time Parents’ Choice® Gold Award Winner, Roger Day for some Marsh Mud Madness. Roger will sing some super swamp songs about mosquitos, burritos, vulture vomit, and more in this mini-show you don’t want to miss.
